A BIT ABOUT US

MOTA was the brainchild of Paul James. When Mike, Paul and Mark got together for a New Animals reunion gig, it felt just like old times; they reminisced about their days touring the world with The New Animals and how timeless the music was.

The guys booked themselves into a new studio and they instantly bonded. Such was the success of the playing that day, the manager of the studio told them that he’d had bands in other studio rooms asking him who was playing and if it was live. Also, workers from a company next door visited, again saying how wonderful the sound was – and “was it a record”?

Recently the guys checked into a Recording Studio to record 4 live tracks “House of the Rising Sun”, “We Gotta Get Out of this Place”, “San Francisco Nights” and “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”. Four hours later it was mission accomplished and they’re all pretty pleased with the sound that was achieved, as they wanted to retain the integrity of the original recordings. You can see you for yourself as the results are here on the music player!

Whilst there are a number of"Animals" tribute acts around at the moment, true fans will know that Mike Starrs' distinctive and powerful vocals are instantly recognisable, having sung on many of The Animals Greatest Hits Albums that are on sale today. Indeed, not only were The New Animals bigger in the USA than The Animals themselves, their amazing concert in Red Square, Moscow, attracted an astonishing 250,000 people. Paul James (aka Clifton) grabbed the headline in the Moscow Guardian with "Kiss my Ass Russia!"

The New Animals original band members included Vic Briggs, Barry Jenkins and Danny McCulloch.

It is MOTA’s aim to tour the world, bringing the wonderful sound of The Animals/The New Animals to a whole new generation, as well as those that remember the band the first time around!

Interest in the music of The Animals was revived recently when The Daily Mirror, a popular British tabloid, “gave away” The Animals’ Greatest Hits. Mike Starrs vocals were on most of the songs, along with Paul on guitar and Mark on keys.

MOTA is not a tribute band. Mike, Paul, Mark and Rick all played for The New Animals and so were part of the original experience. This is what makes MOTA so appealing.
